The Manipal Entrance Test (MET) is an entrance exam conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Exam Details

The CLAT is a 2 hour paper-pen test with 120 multiple choice questions with 1/4 negative marking. The test is conducted in various cities across India on the first Sunday of December.

Exam Pattern/Paper Format

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a paper-pen-based entrance examination for aspiring law students in India. It assesses candidates across five key sections: English (20%), General Knowledge and Current Affairs (25%), Legal Aptitude (25%), Logical Reasoning (20%), and Mathematics (10%). The English section tests language proficiency, while General Knowledge and Current Affairs focus on recent national and international events. Legal Aptitude evaluates a candidate’s understanding of law and reasoning, whereas Logical Reasoning measures critical thinking abilities. Finally, the Mathematics section emphasizes basic numerical skills, ensuring well-rounded preparation for legal studies.

Process Information

The application form is released in August. Students need to complete the application process by mid-October. The test is conducted in December. The admission process is carried out in multiple rounds from end of December through May-June.

Test Syllabus

Numeracy:

Number system, BODMAS rules, Averages, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Time and distance, Mixture and fraction, Cost & Pricing, Direction and dimensions, Age and puzzle. Number series etc.

Conceptual:

General business awareness and understanding of business functions, financial services, banks, financial scams, economics, Corporate who’s who; punchlines, and taglines. Student’s ability to recall and relate to brands, names, personalities and biz news is tested.

English:

Test candidate’s reading ability and level of Grammar: Spotting Errors, Sentence Improvements and completions, Tenses, Conjunction, synonyms etc.

Test candidate’s general awareness and current affairs: History, Civics, Space, Personalities – Field, Famous days, Legal, Trade, Business, General awareness and current affairs, day to day science etc.

Reading Comprehension:

Reading comprehension section tests candidate’s ability to process a written text, understand its meaning, and to reflect critically on the assumptions. It involves the process of reading and language comprehension. The readers are tested on their ability to interpret the given text (a short passage), make deductions, and infer the meaning. This section evaluates candidate’s skills such as factual, inferential, and global comprehension, identifying main ideas and supporting details, and deducing meaning out of the written text.
