Overview

The Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT) is an entrance exam designed to assess the academic potential and aptitude of candidates applying for undergraduate programs at Ashoka University, located in Sonipat, Haryana, India. The university is known for its liberal arts and interdisciplinary education

Exam Details

The CLAT is a 2 hour paper-pen test with 120 multiple choice questions with 1/4 negative marking. The test is conducted in various cities across India on the first Sunday of December.

Exam Pattern/Paper Format

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a paper-pen-based entrance examination for aspiring law students in India. It assesses candidates across five key sections: English (20%), General Knowledge and Current Affairs (25%), Legal Aptitude (25%), Logical Reasoning (20%), and Mathematics (10%). The English section tests language proficiency, while General Knowledge and Current Affairs focus on recent national and international events. Legal Aptitude evaluates a candidate’s understanding of law and reasoning, whereas Logical Reasoning measures critical thinking abilities. Finally, the Mathematics section emphasizes basic numerical skills, ensuring well-rounded preparation for legal studies.

Process Information

The application form is released in August. Students need to complete the application process by mid-October. The test is conducted in December. The admission process is carried out in multiple rounds from end of December through May-June.

Test Syllabus

On-the-Spot Essay:

The on-the-spot essay evaluates the following parameters: engagement with the prompt, critical thinking, clarity of thought, and creativity. The candidate will be given two topics to choose from at the time of writing the essay. The candidate cannot use any external resources to help them write the essay. Problem-solving skills (includes numerical and spatial reasoning):

The students will be given mathematical problems to solve – spanning across topics such as Data Analysis, Arithmetic, Basic Algebra, Visual Reasoning, and General Problem Solving

Critical thinking skills (includes understanding arguments and reasoning using everyday language):

The students will be tested on their ability to process a given excerpt and distill the key points being made, and critically analyse these points
